in 2001-02 compared with the previous year. Adoptions Australia
2001-02 shows there were 561 adoptions in Australia in 2001-02,
47 more than in 2000-01, but far from a peak of nearly 10,000 in
1971-72. Adoptions Australia 2001-02 presents adoption statistics
provided by the State and Territory community services departments
for the period 1 July 2001 to 30 June 2002. These cover all finalised
adoptions reported to State and Territory community services departments
during that year
